Ed Boon, co creator of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchise of fighting games, is a bit miffed by one of Samsung's many weird decisions. In a tweet made on the 12th of April, Boon questions the South Korean tech giant's decision to deliberately hide the Android Google Assistant in favor of the one Samsung developed themselves called Bixby.
I don't understand why Samsung is pushing their Bixby digital assistant when Google's digital assistant is built into Android. #Redundant ? pic.twitter.com/K2S0IHBFFw— Ed Boon (@noobde) April 12, 2017
It is a question shared by many enthusiast-level Android users and developers. For years, Samsung has been running many of its identical apps like Calendar, Wallet and Maps on top of already existing Google-developed versions, with often both running at the same time in the background. Not only does doing this cut the available ram in the phone by almost half, it leaves users of the Galaxy S7 with Samsung's heavily modified build of android OS (TouchWiz) to take up nearly 8GB of internal storage space.
Twitter user K.Dot.Lo correctly pointed out the following:
@noobde Samsung does a good job of spending money on redundant apps pic.twitter.com/XFHIHPmfpg— k.Dot.Lo (@kDotLo) April 12, 2017
Mosts of boon's responses were questions about whether or not Nightwing or starfire would be in the next Injustice 2 trailer
