After Xbox one gamer and Reddit user Kaleptik bought a set of loot boxes in the hit FPS game Overwatch, Paypal decided to temporarily reverse the payment Kaleptik made to Microsoft, only for Paypal to then immediately give the money back to Microsoft.
On Kelpik's end, Microsoft appeared to have received the money, but on Microsoft's end, they only ever received a charge-back. Unfortunately, this meant that the money spent on the loot boxes were no longer valid, causing him to spend the money and receive nothing in exchange.
To make matters worse, the glitch caused the player to lose all of his currency, as well as all the skins acquired from the summer game event to disappear.
After lots of frustration back and forth between Microsoft and Blizzard, The problem was finally sorted out. Blizzard then decided to gift the player with 500 free loot boxes, 400 summer game boxes, 100 regular boxes, and 15,045 in-game currency, in consolation for all the trouble he went through.
So overall, a happy ending to a Paypal disaster.
